First of all, I’d like to thank those that posted comments to yesterday’s entry. I would like to add one more question to that short list at the end: “What is your vision for Birmingham’s future?” That is what I meant to ask when I first wrote the post. If you’ve already posted but think that there may be others that are interested, please forward the link to the entry to them and we’ll collect their thoughts too.
I have also created two new pages for the blog. There is a page dedicated to the concept of a civic organization roundtable. Please feel free to check it and the posts linked to it out. In addition, there is what I hope will be an ever growing list of civic and service organizations in our region. I would like to add an additional page that begins to focus on the question of your vision of the concept of “My Birmingham” (your thoughts on its future).
I am a historian more because of the love of knowledge than anything else. Our library boasts an excellent archives collection, one of the more extensive collections in the Southeast. There are also several sites and projects dedicated to the story of the Magic City. One of these sites is Birmingham Rewound. It is a site that gives you a view into a part of Birmingham’s history. There are many that would argue that it is not complete, however it does provide a starting point from which to speak of time gone by. I’d recommend going to the site and checking it out. And as it’s faithful steward suggests, contact him if you have something that you’d like to see up there. I’m sure that he’s always looking for new things to help round out his collection.
