Random shots: Random comments as the weekend already begins
Last week produce shopping returned to Linn Park as the Park Place Market (related to the Pepper Place Market) began its second year downtown. The idea is to provide workers with the opportunity to buy fresh fruits and vegetables directly from area farmers. Local artisans and area restaurants round out the offerings that will be available every Wednesday through August. There was a pretty good crowd out there (one that became hostile soon after some learned of Bets and I getting the last of the rotisserie chicken from Little Savannah). The restaurant has promised to bring more food next week (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.). You can see the few images that I did take in the Public Markets photoset by clicking here.
You can always come by and participate in the City of Neighborhoods workshop the remainder of the week in Avondale. Thanks to Victoria Coman at the Birmingham News for this quick note about the workshop; here’s the link to a recent post about the event (complete with application form if you’re able to get there).
You can always come by and see my crutch before I try to retire it for a more mobile walking stick in time for this weekend. As previously posted, Liz Sims of Region 2020 and I shall be at her office today around lunch time (12 p.m.) for Catalyst’s Parks and Greenspace pillar’s first meeting. If you come, bring your ideas, your lunch and … that’s about it. 🙂
Not like we don’t have enough to keep us busy…
Before I sign off this morning, it sounds like tonight should be hopping over at Rojo. They’ll be celebrating their 4th anniversary this evening holding an event called Sangria. Tomorrow, if you don’t really feel like braving the crowds for City Stages, you can always go to Caldwell Park and enjoy the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, part of their Sounds for Summer series. There are free tickets available if you dare to read this PDF. Or you can go to City Stages and try out your laptop like we mentioned yesterday; that is until Wade’s logic kicks in. Always with the logic…
Enjoy the day,
