Happenings at the Birmingham Public Library (and their blog)

The Birmingham Public Library has been busy as of late resulting in several posts on their blog. Here’s a look at a couple of them:

New café service at downtown branch

The Atrium Cafe will be opening tomorrow morning, January 17, near the front doors of the Central branch at the intersection of Richard Arrington, Jr. Blvd. and Park Place. The Cafe will be open from Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The service will feature gourmet coffees from Safari Cup Coffee and will provide visitors one more reason to take advantage of the branch’s free wireless access.

Tomorrow’s Brown Bag Lunch Program of great interest

The library will also be hosting Dr. Michael Fazio as part of its Brown Bag Lunch Programs tomorrow afternoon beginning at 12 p.m. He will be discussing the effects the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing had on Birmingham, Alabama’s city planning and architecture.

The discussions are held every Wednesday in the Central branch’s Linn Henley Building’s Arrington Auditorium. Click here to view the original post.

Actually, you may just want to check out the site yourself. No, really.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out this morning’s post, take a look now (or whenever you get a chance).

Thanks for being a library advocate and for the kind words about Birmingham Public Library and our blog.
